When you employ an apprentice, you have a duty of care to your employee and a responsibility to deliver the training they need to become competent in their chosen career.
Employer registration applications include:
- New employer registration, if you haven’t employed an apprentice before

- Registration modification, to update or make changes to your current registration.

Before you start your registration
To help complete your application, you will need to know the following information.
Supporting evidence to assist with the assessment of your application. Where relevant, please include:
- Relevant occupational license details
- Certificates of Compliance (for registration in the electrical, plumbing and gas-fitting trades)
You will need your ABN and Legal Name to register. If you’re unsure if your organisation is registered call Skills SA on 1800 673 097.
We need to know the name of the legal entity that that is employing the apprentice(s). Your legal name is not necessarily the same as your business name. If you’re not sure of the difference, you can find out more at business.gov.au.
If you are unsure of your legal name, your accountant, lawyer or HR department should be able to help.
Employers in a licensed occupation must have the appropriate licence.
The body corporate (e.g. a Pty Ltd company) must hold its own licence.

Ready to apply?
Registration takes place through an online portal - ATLAS. To access ATLAS you require a username and password. If you don’t have one you can request a username and password.
New employers will be granted automated access. When you login for the first time you will be required to change your initial password. Please ensure to keep your password in a safe and secure location.
You can save your incomplete application at any point and come back later to complete it. See more information for New or Existing employers below.
You can start or access your registration through the ATLAS portal.
To access your existing registration, visit ATLAS.
If you have forgotten your username and password, you can request a new one.
Once you’ve requested a user account we will verify your details as soon as we can (usually 1-2 business days). When verified, you’ll be able to access ATLAS and update your registration.
